Project Overview

This is mini project is payment app inspired by Google Pay. Google Pay is a digital payment platform designed by Google.

It allows users to make payments using their smartphones, tablets, or computers. The overall design of the app is also inspired by Google's Material You, Google's latest design language and framework.

The purpose of this project is to redesign the Google Pay app as part of a UX case study. This is a concept created with Figma and Illustrator with high-fidelity mock-ups to practice my skills and to design a payment app to address the difficulties faced by me while using the app.

What is Google Pay?

Google Pay is a digital payment platform developed by Google that allows users to make payments using their smartphones, tablets, or computers.

It combines multiple Google payment services into a unified platform, offering convenience and versatility. Users can link their credit or debit cards, as well as bank accounts, to their Google Pay account to make secure and quick purchases online and at physical stores.

The platform supports contactless payments, where users can tap their devices on compatible payment terminals, and also provides an option for online transactions.

Purpose of the project

While Google Pay is easy to navigate, there are a few missing features as well as existing ones that could be adjusted to improve the overall user experience.

1. Home page has important features that are not emphasized enough and can be easily overlooked by the user.

2. Transaction history and account balance features are not present in the app.

3. Profile screen adds unnecessary steps to view bank accounts.

4. Redesign dark mode and integrate Google's Material You design language!

Home Screen

The home screen is now more informative. The  contactless payment option has been made more visible and the scanning option has been moved down to make it more accessible.

The number of rows for people and business has been reduced to two and the user can tap on the "more" option if the contact they are looking for is not in the list.

History Screen

A history page has been added to the app. A common feature of many banking apps, this screen allows the user to view how much they are spending according to the day, week or month.

This screen also allows them to check date, value and name of each transaction that takes place.

Wallet Screen

The wallet screen consists of two tabs. The cards tab allow the user to view all their cards and the recent activity on the viewed card.

The spending tab shows the total amount of money spent from the user and splits them up by category such as travel, shopping, food, etc.

Profile Screen

The user's profile screen removes the additional step to view bank account and now allows direct access to view all their bank accounts, as well as to allow them to add more at the bottom of the list.

The user can also navigate to their history and rewards from here.
